Katherine Vernot-Jonas is the founder and creative director of KVJDesigns, a  design consulting firm that offers Wellness in Design with a "WOW Factor."

Katherine holds a degree in Architecture from Universidad del Valle and a master’s degree in Marketing and Advertising from Emerson College in Boston. She is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers and in 2021 she obtained a WELL AP certification.

After graduating from Architectural school, Katherine co-founded Mora - Vernot Architecture in Cali, Colombia. One of the firm's notable achievements was the design of a 445-unit apartment complex with commercial space, recreational facilities, and community-oriented services that promote wellness.

In 2004, Katherine relocated from Boston to Washington, D.C., where she established KVJDesigns. Her work has gained recognition and her projects have been featured in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Northwest Current, Home and Design Magazine, and Architectural Digest. Collaborating with Katinas Bruckwick Architecture, KVJDesigns received an ASID Commercial Award for a "Small Space" design.

Katherine's background in architecture and her passion for wellness, design, global travel, and cultural diversity shape her unique approach to the design process. Each commercial and residential project undertaken by Katherine's firm undergoes careful study and research. Her top priority is listening to her client's needs and promoting a healthy lifestyle. Creating a solid blueprint and generating contemporary, meaningful, and innovative thematic ideas are key aspects of her sophisticated and distinctive designs.

In 2020, Katherine launched a new customized furniture collection that complements her building designs with a focus on accommodating the needs of downsizing families. The challenges posed by small spaces inspired Katherine to design creative solutions. Katherine’s new furniture collection is fresh, functional, and sophisticated.

  • When Katherine is not designing she is swimming, hiking, paddle boarding, water-skiing, or walking around her neighborhood. She has been an avid athlete since her high school years including competing nationally and internationally in swimming for Colombia for more than 12 years. While studying for her Master’s degree in Boston she obtained personal trainer certification. She lives with her family in Washington D.C.
